Little Big Snake Strategy: Energy, Food and Safe Growth

Energy is the resource that matters

Little Big Snake looks like a race to be the longest, but the game's own hints keep coming back to one thing: energy. On a computer you hold the left mouse button to accelerate, and on a phone you touch the screen with a second finger. Acceleration burns energy, and the game warns that when energy runs out your snake starts to shrink. The good news is that eating does two jobs at once: every bit of food adds mass and also refills energy straight away.

So the basic loop is simple. Cruise while you eat, and keep acceleration for the moments that decide a fight: cutting in front of a rival, closing a circle, or getting away from a bigger snake.

What to eat and how

  • Nectar is the main food. Snakes that die leave their nectar and energy behind, so a fight between two big snakes is often the best meal on the screen.
  • Insects come in different sizes, and the game notes that fat insects hold more energy.
  • Slugs crawl around and are described as cowardly. They also eat your food, so chasing them down is worth it: they restore health and energy.
  • Bubbles hop around the arena and cannot be swallowed. To pop one, wind your body around it. Green bubbles may hold a bonus.
  • Jujas are the flying bugs. You can eat a juja once it has landed, but only if you hit it from behind, so accelerate in from its back.

Surround instead of ram

The death messages tell you how snakes die: killed by another snake, encircled and smothered, hitting a rock, or crawling into the deadly Hijira bushes at the edge of the world. Two of those four are your own steering. Before you chase anything, look at where the rocks and the map edge are.

Encircling is the safest way to take down another snake or a bubble. Get your body around the target and let it run out of space, instead of trying to cut across its head at close range. Daily missions even include a "surround and kill" goal, so the game expects you to learn it.

Use the terrain

  • Water is fast. The in-game advice says the longer you swim in water, the faster your snake becomes. Rivers are good escape routes and good places to catch up to a target.
  • Bushes near water help against Gorlums, the creatures found in the slug dungeon. A hungry Gorlum can jump on you to eat you; the game tells you to speed through the bushes near the water to shake it off.

Crowns, rebels and the mini-map

The biggest snakes are marked with crowns on the mini-map. A red crown means a rebel, a player the Snake King has put a bounty on. Killing the rebel pays a reward, which is why rebels draw a crowd. If you become the rebel yourself, the game tells you that you are being hunted, and the safest move is to get out of crowded areas.

How your score is counted

The results screen explains where points come from, and it changes how you should end a round:

  • Base score comes from the mass you gathered, plus the Dominator bonus.
  • Every creature you ate or exploded adds to your score as a kill bonus.
  • After you die you can fly as a juja. Nectar gathered as a juja adds bonus points.
  • Leaving the arena through the Lair instead of dying adds a bonus too, so a safe exit with a big snake beats a risky last fight.
  • Your rating is built from your ten best results, so one bad round does not drag it down.

Keys come from mass gained in a round, and they unlock chests in the Lair. Growing steadily and leaving alive is worth more than one big gamble.
